Our 14 day trip starts with an introductory city tour in Addis Ababa
to include the wonderful Ethnological Museum, general City sites and
a visit to one of the impressive Cathedrals or to the Mercato, one of
the largest covered markets in Africa. An early flight to Gondar the
next day allows us time to explore the very interesting Royal Compound
with its 16th century castles built by past rulers of Ethiopia. We will
also visit the Trinity Church, famous for the painted ceiling of angels
and wall murals depicting Biblical scenes. On to the Simien National
Park the next day, from where we begin our actual trekking. Leaving
Debark after an early lunch, we arrive at our first camp site by late
afternoon. For the next 7 days we pass through the most spectacular
scenery of the Simien Mountains, including the Geech Abyss and the Imet
Gogo promontory. Those wishing to scale Ethiopia's highest peak Ras
dashen may do so, otherwise you are free to relax in camp. Exiting through
the contrasting scenery of the Lowlands for the last three days of our
trek, we rendezvous with our transport in Adi Arkay to return to Gondar
for a celebratory meal. Your guide will be very familiar with the flora
and fauna and will have excellent English. Extensions to Lalibela, Axum
and Bahir dar can be arranged. Please find out more by e-mailing us
